Black Forest Fire Response – Complete!

Byron and Susan have completed their work in the Black Forest fire response with Samaritan’s Purse (SP).  SP completed their last work order on Tuesday the 30th of July.  SP was on ground for six weeks completing over 150 work orders.  But more importantly seeing 14 people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus as they started a personal relationship with Him.  Over 2,400 volunteers (not counting those who returned, many almost daily) joined forces with SP working over 24,000 hours.

Teams from Rocky Mountain Calvary, Fox Meadows Church, Mountain Springs Church, Calvary Chapel Aurora, Calvary Chapel Thornton, Red Rocks Church, Village Seven, Woodmen Valley Chapel, and several other local churches in the Monument, Black Forest, and Colorado Springs, area have come to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse.  There have also been teams from Navigators, Compassion International, Focus on the Family, Kohl’s, Peterson Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain, Schreiver Air Force Base, and several other organizations that came out to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse.

A Look at the Summer

The summer has been very busy with disaster response.  We have been to Granbury, TX for tornado response (May 19 – 26), Moore, OK for tornado response (May 27 – June 9), and Black Forest, CO fire response (June 11 – July 30).  We are anxious to get some of our projects back onto a calendar before we start to get snow.

Our first project is fire mitigation for Jane.  We started this project May 18th and need to get back.  We are currently planning on Saturday August 10th.  Interested in volunteering? Sign up by clicking here! You can also sign up by calling or sending us an email.  We are looking to staff this project with up to 20 volunteers.

We are working to complete other open projects such as communications improvements with our email and a webpage update.  We are very grateful for the help we have received and the positive results from the new email tools that have been implemented.  We are working to get the final pieces put together on the new web page and hope to see it on line in the next couple of weeks.

We have been working some minor repairs on the truck.  We have managed to complete all of the repairs with the exception of the engine heater plug.  This plug is used to connect the heater to power to minimize engine starting wear during the winter months when the temperatures drop below freezing.  The plug shorted out at the end of last winter.  We are looking for a volunteer who knows how to replace the engine heater plug.

Please continue to pray that God will open the doors for us in the local churches.

As always we are extremely grateful for your prayer support.  We look forward to hearing from you in person, on the phone, email, snail mail, or Facebook.  Until then; here, there, or in the air!

In His Service,
