Hurricane Harvey Response Update

Hurricane Harvey Response Update

We have been closely monitoring the Hurricane Harvey situation and the responses from various organizations. We are currently planning to stay here through the end of October and fulfill the commitments we have made locally.  It is our heart to not send a message to the people to whom we have committed that they are less important than anyone else.  Based on what we know and our past experiences we feel that a late response to Texas will actually have more value.  Here are the reasons:
What We Know
Large disaster response ministries have  deployed resources prior to the storm touching down. They did this to stage the resources as close as possible to the areas that will need help when those areas open. The areas will not open until the storm has passed and the water has receded enough to work this could take days or weeks.

Relief efforts continue being delayed by the weather.  All search and rescue and recovery efforts, as well as infrastructure emergency maintenance, must be completed in any areas where volunteers will be working to assure a safe working environment.

What We Have Experienced
There will be many volunteers for the first weeks of activity.  This will start to taper off as the news dies down.  This will leave a huge gap in volunteer resources for the last few weeks of the clean up effort.  This is where we feel we would be of most value.  This should coincide with the end our our local season and commitments.
Based on these ideas we have started to plan for a late response. If you think you would be interested in November please let us know and we can start planning if we know who and when people are available.

Blessings!

Workday August 24 & 26, 2017

Update and Workday Announcement
Thursday, August 24th
&
Saturday August 26th

We had three excellent workdays last week serving two separate families. Our team was joined by a team of young adults from Front Range Alliance Church (FRAC) here in Colorado Springs on Saturday. What an awesome team! They worked hard and were instrumental in helping to get 5 very full dump trailer loads loaded and hauled away. The fellowship was awesome with the volunteers and the very involved homeowners!

This week we will be back on our normal Thursday Saturday schedule. We are expecting to serve at least three families this week. Our next workdays are this Thursday, August 24th, and Saturday August 26th. We will be working on homes in the Black Forest. The work will consist of taking down trees, cleaning up downed trees, and stacking tree debris (slash) to be loaded into a trailer for disposal.

We still have a few projects on the books with a few more to be assessed. Please pray about joining us. We work every Thursday and Saturday (with the exception of holiday weekends). Church teams and youth groups are always welcome.

Please let us know if you are available to work Thursday or Saturday starting at 08:30. Even if you can only come for part of the day we would love to have you come out and help. Please let us know via email at info@hoperestored.org or via the phone at 719.749.6286 so we can send the details for the day.

Please keep the team in your prayers that God will give them wisdom and opportunity as they work the projects.

As always your prayer and financial support is greatly appreciated.

Blessings!

Saturday August 19th

The weather continues to be wetter than normal here in Colorado Springs. The forecasts show we are in for a warming trend with things starting to dry out. We were able to work all three of our workdays last week with exceptional results. Not only was the work accomplished but we had some great times of fellowship with the volunteers and the homeowners.

This week we will again have three workdays which will put us at two different families homes. Our next workdays are this Tuesday, August 15th, Thursday, August 17th, and Saturday August 19th. We will be working on one home in the city and another home in the Black Forest. The work will consist of taking down trees, cleaning up downed trees, loading tree debris (slash) into a trailer for disposal, and helping with a yard cleanup loading debris into a dumpster.

Tuesday will be a family friendly day with the work being yard clean up, mostly pulling weeds.

Thursday and Saturday we will be back working on trees at a home in the Black Forest.

We still have a few projects on the books with a few more to be assessed. Please pray about joining us. We work every Thursday and Saturday (with the exception of holiday weekends). Church teams and youth groups are always welcome.

Please let us know if you are available to work Tuesday starting at 9:00 or Thursday or Saturday starting at 08:30. Even if you can only come for part of the day we would love to have you come out and help. Please let us know via email at info@hoperestored.org or via the phone at 719.749.6286 so we can send the details for the day.

Workdays: August 3 & August 5, 2017

Update and Workday Announcement
Thursday, August 3rd and Saturday August 5th

We have been having a great season. God has demonstrated His great grace and mercy to all of us and those whom we have the privilege to serve! The team has endured some very hot weather and difficult working conditions (steep and uneven terrain). We have also had donations of an ATV (needed for safety and work in the Black Forest area), repairs to the ATV, and finances that have permitted the acquisition of needed tools. We have also had the privilege to use (for free) a large dump trailer for many of our workdays!

Recently we have been able to add another two chain saws to our tool trailer. This has been a tremendous upgrade for us as we have had two saws in the shop for repairs for over three weeks and that would have been a significant detriment to our ability to work. The conditions in which we work are extremely hard on the equipment and the volunteers.

We want to say THANK YOU again for your faithful prayer and financial support!

Our next workdays are this Thursday August 3rd and Saturday August 5th. We will be working on another home in the Black Forest. The work will consist of taking down trees, cleaning up downed trees, and loading tree debris (slash) into a dump trailer for disposal.

We still have many projects already on the books with more to be assessed. Please pray about joining us. We work every Thursday and Saturday (with the exception of holiday weekends). Church teams and youth groups are always welcome.

Please let us know if you are available to work Thursday August 3rd or Saturday August 5th starting at 08:30. Even if you can only come for part of the day we would love to have you come out and help. Please let us know via email at info@hoperestored.org or via the phone at 719.749.6286 so we can send the details for the day.

Please keep the team in your prayers that God will give them wisdom and opportunity as they work the projects.
