For unto us a child is born, a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
About 2,000 years ago angels from heaven came to the
lowliest of all mankind with good news of hope.
In that time shepherds were considered some of the lowest members of
society. They were so poorly thought of
that they were not even allowed to testify in a court of law. Yet God Himself sent His mighty messengers to
them with the first announcement of the birth of hope, Jesus. Born of a virgin, in a barn, a feeding trough
for a crib, surrounded by animals, the creator of all the universe came to us,
a gift from a loving and gracious God.
As we celebrate Christmas may we be reminded of the glorious birth of
our Lord and Savior. May the gift of
salvation, through a personal relationship with Jesus, be the gift that we most
treasure. May we reflect on the only true hope that we and the rest of humanity
will ever experience. May our hearts be
filled with grace and peace!
